1) Integrity | Talia Keys & the Love | Soul-Funk-Rock n’ Roll

I saw Talia Keys perform a couple summers ago at the famous Green Pig Blues Jam. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what all the hype I kept hearing was all about. She had something going on for sure. I just wasn’t seeing it yet. I was hearing she had basically ruled over the elite mega stars that flock to play Sundance every season, so I dug a little deeper. When I finally heard the album, We’re Here, it all clicked. Integrity has a great reggae sound and Talia’s gritty but sweet voice adds a nice urban element to the song. 2) Gratitude | Evan Taylor | Jazz

Evan Taylor is a Salt Lake City-based trumpet player who records for Warner / Chappell. Somebody was playing Gratitude at a Bard meeting and I said “This one…right here!” Turns out a jazz aficionado and friend of the magazine sent this one in and I’m happy they did. I love the mix of Gratitude and I’m looking forward to Taylor’s upcoming album, which is “coming very soon” according to his website evantaylortrumpet.com.
3) A Perfect Man | Jody Whitesides | Pop
Park City songwriter & producer Jody Whitesides has been at it for quite some time—starting out in the Los Angeles music scene before ultimately returning home to Utah. Whiteside’s style is sometimes hard for me to nail down—when you write for other artists and media, you gotta be nimble. In “A Perfect Man” Whitesides’ clever lyrics are on full display.
