Song Picks of the Week – November 24, 2020

Salt Lake Bard Song Picks of the Week Artist Rainy Dawn

Featuring “Something in the Water” by Rainy Dawn, “Just A Feeling” by Teddy Amstone and “Hey Nice Coogi” by Superbubble.

Every Tuesday, we post our favorite song discoveries — both new and old —from local artists around the Intermountain West. Check out the three picks below and then check out our archive of past Song Picks of the Week

1) “Something in the Water” | Rainy Dawn | Acoustic

Rainy Dawn is an acoustic duo made up of vocalist Launa Wadsworth and guitarist/backup vocals Lyndi Wadsworth. Fresh out of surgery, with staples up and down her entire spine, Lyndi somehow found the energy to write and send us links to her new music. So glad she did. The haunting vocal harmonies in “Something in the Water” resonate deep and scour clean the nastiness dwelling in my soul. Take a listen and learn more about Rainy Dawn on Facebook, stream their music on Spotify and stream or purchase through Apple. –Scott Cullins

2) “Just A Feeling” | Teddy Amstone

Teddy Armstone is a sample-based artists who uses textures, sound effects and synths and to create his experimental sound. Amstone’s music is hard to categorize, but he says he draw influence from soul, funk, pop and hip-hop. We found Teddy like we find a lot of artists—scouring social media for hours on end. “Just A Feeling” offers a nice calming change of pace. Teddy’s currently working on an piece that narrates his experience through the pandemic…with the love of his and moving to the city as a backdrop. Watch for his Teddy’s first music video coming out soon in Youtube, stream on Spotify or Soundcloud, purchase on Apple Music and learn more on the artist’s Facebook page. –Norman Boland

3) “Hey Nice Coogi” | SuperBubble | Funk

Back once again in our Song Picks of the Week is Superbubble with “Hey Nice Coogi,” from the 2019 album “Space Bound.” Everytime I visit the super secret Bard headquarters, Scott is plating Superbubble. Now I can’t get them out of my head. Speaking of Coogis, everyone needs a good one…even if you only break it out once a year for Reggae Rise Up. Maybe like the one Biggie Smalls used to wear! Learn more about SuperBubble on superbubbleband.com, stream their music on Spotify, follow them on facebook, or stream/purchase on Apple Music. –Freddie Torrance
