The Salt Lake Arts Council and S&S Presents recently held a fundraiser called Light up Locals in lieu of this years Twilight Concert Series. The purpose was to fund $500 COVID relief grants for working musicians residing in Salt Lake City.

According to Americans for the Arts, 95% of artists have reported income loss and two out of three artists are unemployed, so no doubt many of you reading this will be eligible.

To qualify for the COVID relief grants, musicians can be working part-time, be in any stage of their career, must live in Salt Lake City, be over the age of 18 and must be able to relate how they have lost work as a practicing musician. That’s really about the only requirements but look here for official requirements.

The October 13 deadline is fast approaching and Arts Council executive director Felicia Baca wants t o get as many musicians as possible to apply. She says the application is fairly simple. To apply, you must create an account with the Arts Council and you can do that here.

The application deadline is October 13th and is relatively simple and no strings attached.
