The Metal Community.  That phrase means something very real to me.  Even as a relative outsider to the scene, I feel secure in my relationship with Metal. Without question, metal is the most inclusive genre in my musical journey.  For this reason alone. I would encourage you—gentle reader—to include CrucialFest 10 in your musical meanderings this coming week(end).

Founder Jarom Bischoff has remained admirably steadfast in his focus on bringing back the annual pilgrimage for fans and players both. This year’s fest boasts the notable draw of Free admission. Bischoff’s reasoning, that getting ‘butts in seats’ as we continue to negotiate public health considerations, is a welcomed Fan First attitude.

“Free admission is a way to give back to those who have supported this event for 10 years,” says Bishoff. “There are also a lot of curious first-timers, and I wanted to make it easy for them to come check it out.”

In addition to open doors, CrucialFest will be the gathering spot of many distinguished local performers. Artists like Lindsay Heath and Cache Tolman of The Violet Temper (Fri. 8.30 pm) who are as accomplished as any musicians in the community. Their deeply beautiful power trio presentation will be a highlight among a highlight reel of other bands including Magda Vega, Swarmer, Turtleneck Wedding Dress, Mortigi Tempo, Iceburn, The Penitent Man and many other notables.

“I’m really excited about how enthusiastic people have been,” says Bishoff, “and I cant wait until they see how we’ve changed things up this year.”

This year’s edition will go down at Metro Music Hall downtown at 715 W 100. A stalwart venue with always-excellent Sound, the event will have an apropós home for the 10th Edition.

Crucialfest runs four nights, starting Thursday, August 26 through Sunday, August 29.  Get more info on the full lineup at crucialfest.com and secure your tickets here.
