2020 CMAs Snub John Prine

A lot of Utahn’s in the folk, singer songwriter and country genres were upset this week as the 2020 CMAs—the Country Music Association’s annual awards event—snubbed some of their heros. John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Billy Joe Shaver were all snubbed. Not even a mention in the program.

Pitchfork reported that Jason Isbell and Amanda Shire handed in their lifetime membership cards is protest. Margo Price also called out tthe CMAs on twitter, citing a betrayal of the show’s claim of ‘No Drama, Just Music,” and stating, “Artists pander woke authenticity when it benefits them and then sit in silence as they collect their plastic trophies. Also the music sucks.”

Ouch!
