Song Picks of the Week – October 6, 2020

This week features Monster by Late Night Savior, Echoing Sound by Spirit Machines and 1985 by Brother.

Each week, Salt Lake Bard posts our favorite song discoveries — both new and old — from local artists around the Intermountain West. Check out our three picks below, find past selections in our archive of past Song Picks of the Week (SPW), and stream all of our picks on the Bard Spotify playlist or watch them on the Bard Youtube playlist.

1) “Monster” | Late Night Savior | Metal

Late Night Survivor have seen considerable success since forming in  2016. But the road to success was a lot of work, with the band putting out two albums in their first two years and touring a lot—opening for bands like Royal Bliss and Saliva. LNS recently announced record deal with Rock Shop Records (RSR) and released their first new track under their new label, “Monster.” Learn more about Late Night Savior at latenightsaviorband.com, stream on Spotify and buy on Apple Music. – Scott Cullins

2) “Echoing Sound” | Spirit Machines

From their debut album “Feel Again,” “Echoing sound marks the second original we’ve added to Song Picks of the Week from Spirit Machines. “Echoing Sound” has one of the best grooves I’ve heard all year…laid down by drummer Michael Collins and bassist Sergio Marticorina. Learn more about the band and purchase music and merchandise at SpiritMachinesBand.com, stream their music on Spotify and Apple Music, and watch on Youtube. – Scott Cullins

3) “1985” | Brother. | Indie Rock

Nobody in Brother. is old enough to to have seen Jackie Gleason on television in the hay day. I’m way older, b ut “1985” sure evokes a nostalgia that takes you back to those days. I’m guessing that, like me, The Jackie Gleason show reruns were a big hit with vocalist Chuck Emery’s family. “1985” also marks Brother.’s second song featured Salt Lake Bard Song Picks of the Week. No doubt there is more to come for this awesome band. Learn more about the band at brotherofficial.net, watch on Youtube, stream on Spotify and buy on Apple Music. – Scott Cullins
