Song Picks of the Week – November 3, 2020

SPW Vintage Overdrive

Featuring “Spark” by Vintage Overdrive, “Overture for the River” by Pixie and the Partygrass Boys and “Makes Me Sick” by Lithium 7.

Every Tuesday, we post our favorite song discoveries — both new and old —from local artists around the Intermountain West. Check out the three picks below and then check out our archive of past Song Picks of the Week.

1) “Spark” | Vintage Overdrive | Rock
By Freddie Torrance

“Spark,” from the 2019 EP of the same name from Vintage Overdrive, is our latest addition to SPW. There’s something about Gabe Hampton’s voice intrigues me. He goes a lot of places in “Spark…” check it out. Learn more about Vintage Overdrive at vintageoverdriveband.com, watch on Youtube and purchase on Apple Music.

2) “Overture for the River” | Pixie and the Partygrass Boys | Newgrass
By Scott Cullins

Here’s a new instrumental from Pixie and the Partygrass Boys that anyone who loves the Colorado River will enjoy. “Overture for the River,” from the September 2020 album, “The River Speaks Plainly” is calming and hopeful all at once. In addition to music, the album provides an audio history of the river, with some great stories of the many characters who helped preserve and build awareness of the river. Stream on Spotify, watch on Youtube, purchase on Apple Music, and learn more at pixieandthepartygrassboys.com.

3) “Makes Me Sick” | Lithium 7 | Metal
By Norman Boland

We featured Lithium 7 in a past Song Picks of the Week. This week, we’re bringing this Utah Metal band with “Makes Me Sick.” Check out “Makes Me Sick” below. Watch Lithium 7 on Youtube, stream them on Spotify, and learn more at lithium7.net or the band’s facebook page.

If you are an artists and would like to be featured on a future Salt Lake Bard Song Picks of the Week, please check out our submission requirements. And if you hear of anything you think we should be listening too, send it our way.
