Utah Art Festival: Must See Musical Performances

Utah Arts Festival UAE on Salt Lake Bard

Multi-stage music festivals can pose a challenge when there are so many great bands. Here are our recommendations to ensure you make the best of this year’s Utah Arts Festival.

It won’t be hard to outdo the 2020 Utah Art Festival, since there wasn’t one. But it seems Utah Arts Festival (UAF) organizers are leaving nothing to chance, this year, and are pulling out all stops when it comes to live music.

The Bard has been reporting on the local music scene for almost two years now and there aren’t many acts that we don’t know about. The amazing thing is there are a lot of great Utah bands NOT playing at the UAF. Why? There is just not enough room to stuff them all in to this the three-day event.

As we reviewed the music lineup for this year’s festival, we were blown away at the talent that UAF organizers had rustled together. The Saturday lineup, alone, is mind boggling and worth the price of a three-day pass. With all the great musical talent this year, how do you know who to see—especially with many oof the performances overlapping?

Rest Easy

To make it easy—for those of you who might not be tapped into the local music scene—here’s a curated a list for you. We had to leave out a few great artists, but that’s what happens when you cram so much talent into such a small timeframe.

Friday Must-See Artists

Ryan Innes, 2:45-3:30 pm on the Park Stage
Innes, was a contestant on NBC’s The Voice in 2013, and received a four-chair turn from the judges. We love his soulful.

Fur Foxen, 3 to 3:45 pm on the Garden Stage
This two-piece chamber folk band combine their classical and ham-fisted sounds to create an ironical soundscape.

Will Baxter Band, 8:15 to 9 pm on the Festival Stage
Blues inspired rock.

Saturday Must-See Artists

Salt Lake Academy of Music, 12:15 to 1 pm, on the Park Stage
Steve Auerbach and his staff run an amazing music school and have taught hundreds of kids how to play.

The Pour, 4:30 to 5:30 pm on the Festival Stage
The Pour are an amazing band that always packs the house when they play the local club. Not quite progressive, not quite a jam band.

String Fx, 5 to 5:45 pm on the Garden Stage
We’ve been a fan of Kaitlyn Findlay’s since the days of Sidewalk Poets. String FX takes her back to her classical root with three other lovely ladies.

Brother, 5:15 to 6 pm on the Park Stage
If you haven’t heard this Provo Indie Rock band, you are in for a treat!

SuperBubble, 6-7 pm on the Festival Stage
Break out the old coogi and get ready for one of the best festival bands around.

Michelle Moonshine & Co., 6:45 to7:30 pm on the Garden Stage
Another Utahn who made it to Hollywood on NBC’s The Voice.

Sunday Must-See Artists

Pixie & The Partygrass Boys, 6:30 to 7:15 pm on the Festival Stage
If you love traditional bluegrass and newgrass, check this band out.

Triggers and Slips, 7 to 7:45 pm on the Park Stage
A unique country & rock sound, Triggers and Slips.
