Song Picks of the Week – March 5, 2021

Provo Utah band, Harbor Patrol, featured on Salt Lake Bard

Featuring Renegade by Harbor Patrol, Every Day I Get Up by Rose Colored Roots and Acid by Acacia Ridge.

Each week, Salt Lake Bard posts our favorite song discoveries — both new and old — from local artists around the Intermountain West. Check out our three picks below, find past selections in our archive of past Song Picks of the Week (SPW), and stream all of our picks on the Bard Spotify playlist or watch them on the Bard Youtube playlist.

1) Renegade  |  Harbor Patrol

We don’t know much about this band—they never responded to our inquiries—but we won’t hold that against this young band from Provo. The song Renegade, off the 2019 EP Break Free, has great energy. Renegade reminds me of that person we all know—who considers themselves a renegade but, in realty, are actually just a fool. The band’s musical style is a bit hard to nail down, but there is no denying the talent. Follow Harbor Patrol on Facebook and Instagram, stream on Spotify and Apple Music and watch on Youtube. – Scott Cullins

2) “Every Day I Get Up” | Rose Colored Roots

Back for their second ride on SPW, Rose Colored Roots delivers more of that funky pop sound we love with Every Day I Get Up. Find this tune on the band’s 2020 release The World is Flat Again. Follow the band on Facebook and Instagram, stream their music on Spotify, and Apple Music and watch them on Youtube–Freddie Torrance

3) “Acid” | Acacia Ridge

Acacia Ridge tells us Acid was originally cut from the 2019 Watch Your Monarchs Fall. The song was released as a single, after a bit of rework late in 2020, along with some pretty cool teeshirt merch to match. Check it out! Learn more about Acacia Ridge at www.acaciaridgeband.com, follow the band on Facebook and Instagram, stream on Spotify and Apple Music and watch them on Youtube. –Scott Cullins
